Pak-China Friendship Tunnel and Attabad Lake Gojal, Hunza

Gojal valley is a beautiful place situated in the north of Pakistan. It is also known as Upper Hunza. It has more then 25 villages. One of the beautiful Park of Pakistan namely Khunjerav National Park is in Gojal, which connects China and Pakistan. This park is situated at about 15,000 feet.


       The people of this area are very merciful and hardworking. Tourists from all over the world visits the place in every season and mostly in summer. All four seasons exists here. Gojal is famous for its beautiful and high mountains, glaciers, rivers and many more. The fruits in this area are very testy and all kind of fruits are available here. Like apricot, apple, grapes, mulberry, cherry, strawberry etc. Some few years back the people used to sell potatoes and earn money, but due to attabad disaster the people almost stop producing potatoes.

 Attabad landslide happens on 4th January 2010. For the first people travel through helicopter after some months the river turns to a huge lake and people start traveling through boats. It was very difficult to carry patients to the city. After that china support the effected areas by giving relief to the people. But china didn't stop its trade, it helps people to make money from this by loading and unloading goods from truck to boat and from boat to trucks. During this year china was making roads. And the people are working with chines and earning money. It helps every people to earn money. People used to travel through boats for more than five years and it was also difficult time.

There was one way to connect gojal with gilgit is to make tunnel along attabad lake. The chines start working on this, it took about 3 years and china complete its mission and make tunnel along attabad lake. It was really good news for the people of Gojal. It was a big gift given to the people of gojal by the Chines government. Without chines this was about impossible to make such work. And finally on 14 September 2015 Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurate Pak-China Friendship tunnel, after that the tunnel was open for all traffic. That was the day when Gojal fully connect with gilgit City. It was really a surprising time for the people because before this it takes more than 12 hour to reach gilgit and now it takes only 3 hour to reach Gilgit. The people thanks the government of China for that and the china also done this for their benefit also because its all trade with Pakistan takes place through Karakouram Highway(KKH). KKH is also known as Eight wonder of the world.

Uses of Social Media in Upper Hunza (Gojal)

As we all know that social media has now become very popular all over the world. Pakistan is a developing country and has now becoming very popular in social networking. If we talk about Gilgit and also Upper Hunza (Gojal). Social media is very popular and also the people of these areas are taking more interest toward this.Now we comes toward the internet services. The internet services is very poor and it is situated in some villages of Gojal, due to less coverage of mobile signals. Mobile network in these area comes few years later, but till now most of the places have lack of mobile network. Those place in which mobile network is available have to access to the internet. And now the people from the area are using social networks like Facebook, Whatsapp etc. The students get more information from internet and also with the help of NGO's the youth of these areas are getting more interested toward e marketing and freelancing. It is a better achievement for Gojal and the youth of these areas. As people knows that Hunza has a literacy rate of more than 95%  and the people from these areas are studying abroad, in better universities. The students of Upper Hunza (gojal) are now attracted toward computer fields and also have better opportunities in the future.
